The 12th ELITE International Conference: Integrating Studies in Linguistics, Literature, and English Language Education

Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta played host to a special event, The 12th ELITE International Conference. Scholars from various parts of the world gathered to celebrate intellectual diversity in the fields of linguistics, literature, and English language education. In collaboration with The 3rd International Symposium and The 5th Adab International Conference and Cultural Science (A-ICONICS), this conference became a stage for uniting in-depth discussions.
 

During the conference held from May 28 to May 30, 2024, participants were deeply immersed in exploring the latest advancements and innovative methodologies across the three key domains of linguistics, literature, and English Language Teaching (ELT). Discussions ranged from modern linguistic analysis to classical literature interpretation, and effective English language teaching strategies in the digital age. Special panels also addressed the challenges and opportunities in advancing intercultural understanding through linguistic and literary studies.
 
One of the highlights of the conference was the presentation of various scholarly papers reflecting the diversity of approaches and methodologies in research in these fields. Participants also had the opportunity to enjoy stimulating art and cultural performances in the city of Yogyakarta, adding vibrancy to this intellectual endeavor.
 
Prof. Dr. Hj. Like Raskova Octaberlina, M. Ed., the President of ELITE Association (the Association of English Lecturers of Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia), expressed appreciation for the success of the event. "This conference not only served as a platform for the exchange of ideas but also as a space to build strong collaborative networks among experts and practitioners in relevant fields," she said.
 

Additionally, she also expressed her gratitude to all parties involved in the success of the event. "As a representative of the Association of English Lecturers of Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the organization of this conference," she said. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Dakwah, the Head of the English Literature Department, and the Head of the Event Organizing Committee and team members for their support and guidance throughout the event preparation process. I also appreciate the boards and members of the Association of English Lecturers of Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions of ideas and experiences. Additionally, I would like to thank all individuals involved in organizing and supporting the event. The success of this conference would not have been possible without the hard work and collaboration of every individual and entity involved. Thank you for your dedication and cooperation."
 

With the official closing on the final day, the 12th ELITE International Conference left a strong mark on the international academic community. The messages and findings generated from this conference are expected to make valuable contributions to advancing studies in linguistics, literature, and English language education in the future.

An International Hybrid Conference The 12th ELITE International Conference in Collaboration with the 3rd International Symposium and the 5th Adab International Conference and Cultural Science (A-ICONICS), promises to be a dynamic event set to unfold from May 28th to May 30th, 2024, at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
 
This groundbreaking collaboration between The Association of English Language Lecturers of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta sets the stage for an enriching exploration of "The Practice of Coexistence in Language, Literature, and Language Teaching."

Webinar (Tips and Tricks for Obtaining Research and Community Service Grants)


Perkumpulan Dosen Bahasa Inggris Kementerian Agama (PDBI-KEMENAG) Republik Indonesia, the association of English lecturers within the Ministry of Religious Affair Republic of Indonesia, has successfully carried out a webinar with the theme: Tips and Tricks for Obtaining Research and Community Service Grants. This activity was held on Saturday 25 November 2023. This activity was attended by English lecturers from various universities within the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
 
 
Prof. Dr. Hj. Like Raskova Octaberlina, M.Ed, the president of Perkumpulan Dosen Bahasa Inggris Kementerian Agama (PDBI-KEMENAG) Republik Indonesia, said that this activity was carried out in order to share tips/tricks for English Lecturers of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to obtain Research and Service grants which can be obtained from various institutions.
 
Dr. Fita Heriyawati, M.Pd, the invited speaker, said that there are several tips/tricks for obtaining Research and Community Service grants, including writing proposals that comply with the provisions determined by the grant organizing institutions.
 

The 11th ELITE International Conference (2023)


Perkumpulan Dosen Bahasa Inggris Kementerian Agama (PDBI-KEMENAG) Republik Indonesia, the association of English lecturers within the Ministry of Religious Affair Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with Universitas Islam Negeri Professor Kiai Haji Saefuddin Zuhri (UIN SAIZU) Purwokerto, has successfully carried out The 11th ELITE International Conference (2023).  The conference hosted by the the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Negeri Professor Kiai Haji Saefuddin Zuhri (UIN SAIZU) Purwokerto.
 
 
The event presented keynote and plenary speakers from Indonesia and other countries who participated in sharing ideas, knowledge and experiences: Dr. Gumawang Jati, M.A. (President of Indonesia Technology Enhanced Language Learning), Prof. Dr. Hj. Huriyah, M.Pd. (UIN Cirebon, Indonesia), Prof. Didin Nuruddin Hidayat, M.A. TESOL, Ph.D. (UIN Jakarta, Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Suwito, M.Ag. (UIN SAIZU, Indonesia), Dr. Mohamed H. Al Aqad (Malaysia), Colm Downes (British Counsil), Alice Durgayan (British Counsil, Armenian Branch), Prof. Hisham Al Saghbini (Cambridge Assessment English) and Prof. Dr. Luis Cardosa (University of Coimbra, Portugal). Apart from that, there were also parallel session speakers and participants, who came from various universities in Indonesia and other countries.
 
 
The President of PDBI-KEMENAG, Dr. Hj. Like Raskova Octaberlina, M.Ed., said that ELITE International Conference is an annual event held by the association in collaboration with Islamic higher education institutions within the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to improving the quality of English teaching-learning in Indonesia, this event also aims to establish good cooperation between colleges and universities, especially those within the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
 
The chairman of the organizing committee of the 11th ELITE International Conference 2023, Kristianto, S.S., M.Hum. expressed deepest gratitude to the President of PDBI-KEMENAG and all PDBI-KEMENAG boards, keynote speakers, presenters, participants, the members of the conference organizing committee, as well as individuals involved to the successful organization of the conference.
 
The next conference, i.e. The 12th ELITE International Conference (2024), will be held in Yogyakarta, hosted by the Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
